Honoring the Turner Legacy

Message From The Turner Family:

Ross Turner passed away on Thursday, October 9th, and Kristi Dietz Turner on December 7th, 2025. A profound loss to the Turner family, the Guided Discoveries organization, and the broader GDI family.

Since founding Guided Discoveries in 1978, Ross and Kristi have inspired young people through hands-on exploration and learning. What started as a vision to connect education with adventure grew into something extraordinary — a family of programs, supporters, staff, and alumni who have reached millions of campers and students over nearly fifty years. Working side by side, Ross and Kristi’s shared vision became a reality.

Ross and Kristi believed in people. They believed in the spark that happens when young minds discover something new and that through discovery, we all become our best selves.

Ross and Kristi not only made sure the Guided Discoveries mission and vision were carried forward by our campers, staff, and friends, but they also lived it every day.

While we are heartbroken by this loss, we are also deeply thankful for the legacy and example Ross and Kristi have shared—one that will continue to guide Guided Discoveries for generations to come.

Ross and Kristi leave behind their children, Stephanie, Doug, and Craig, along with grandchildren Sage, Jack, Scarlett, Isla, Raven, and Charlie, and their families and extended families.

With love and appreciation
