About This Event
The 2025 Art, Essay, & Oratory Scholarship Contest is a contest for middle school and high school students to have the opportunity to share their pro-life views. The scholarship contest has 3 categories: Art Contest, Essay Contest, & Oratory Contest. Students will have the opportunity to win a cash prize ranging from $1000 - $75!
All three scholarship contests will focus on the same theme: "The Pro-Life Generation." Students participating will create content based on this theme.
Art Scholarship Contest: (Open to students in 7-12 grade)
The Right to Life of Southwest Indiana Art Scholarship Contest strives to promote the ability of junior high and high school students to share their pro-life views with others. Eligible students will create an original piece of pro-life art guided by the theme chosen for the year. This year, the theme is “The Pro-Life Generation.”
Essay Scholarship Contest: (Open to students in 7-12 grade)
The Right to Life of Southwest Indiana Essay Scholarship strives to promote the ability of junior high and high school students to share their pro-life views with others. This essay scholarship seeks to help participants organize and express their views via an essay. Eligible students will write a 300-500 word essay around a pro-life theme. This year’s theme for the Essay Scholarship is “The Pro-Life Generation.”
Mary Ellen Van Dyke Voices for Life, Oratory Scholarship Contest: (Open to students in 9-12 grade)
The Right to Life of Southwest Indiana Mary Ellen Van Dyke Oratory Scholarship strives to promote the ability of high school students to share their pro-life views with others. This scholarship is named after Mary Ellen Van Dyke, a pro-life advocate who accomplished much in the local pro-life movement. This year’s theme for the Oratory Scholarship is “The Pro-Life Generation.”
This scholarship seeks to help teens organize and express their views via a written/speaking contest. Eligible students will write a 5-7 minute pro-life speech and record a video of the speech to submit to the contest. A panel of pro-life judges will evaluate all submissions, and the contestants with the top three scores will be contacted to present their speech at the final competition on March 6, 2025.
(Students may only enter 1 entry in 1 contest of their choosing. Students may not enter multiple entries in multiple contests. Students will choose whether to enter 1 entry into the Art Scholarship Contest, the Mary Ellen Van Dyke Voices for Life Scholarship Contest, and the Essay Scholarship Contest)
