About Us

Founded in 1987, EFLC was established by community leaders who recognized the need to support low-performing students with homework assistance. In partnership with the school district, the organization became a 501(c)(3) non-profit in 1988, originally known as Dial-A-Teacher, before rebranding as Education Foundation of Lake County, Inc. Our mission is to serve as the connection between our community and public education, evaluating needs and securing resources to enhance the quality of education. We are proud to be the only direct support organization for Lake County Public Schools.

At EFLC, we are dedicated to enhancing educational experiences for both students and teachers through a wide variety of programs, including Teacher Classroom Grants, Back to School Backpack Distributions, Senior Scholarships, Take Stock in Children, and much more. We also recognize outstanding educators through awards such as Teacher of the Year and Rookie Teacher of the Year. Our fundraising events, like the Scott Strong Golf Tournament, Lady of the Lakes Renaissance Faire, and Ladies Fore Education, play a critical role in sustaining these efforts.

Our commitment to transparency and accountability has earned us the Platinum Seal of Transparency from Candid (formerly Guide Star) for five plus years. Last year alone, we were proud to have an educational impact of $1.8 million for Lake County Public Schools, directly impacting the lives of students and teachers.
