About This Event

QuailMasters 2026

WHAT: Year-long course with 4 sessions, each session lasts 3 days (Sunday 1PM-Tuesday 12PM). QuailMasters requires considerable commitment from s tudents in terms of time and workload. 

WHO: This course is designed for landowners, land managers, hunters, college students, natural resource professionals, and anyone passionate about learning more about quail.

WHY: To give quail enthusiasts a solid foundation in the principles of quail ecology and habitat management and connect with like-minded people, professionals and instructors.

KEY ELEMENTS INCLUDE:
  • Mixture of both classroom exercises and field tours
  • Involvement of local landowners/managers, researchers and other professionals at each location
  • Emphasis on critical thinking and plant identification
  • Networking with landowners, land managers, hunters, researchers and professionals who have similar interest in quail
  • Research and habitat management best practices updates
  • Homework and quizzes - to help hone your knowledge and skills
  • Graduate students can earn credit for this course (let us know ahead of time if you are seeking college credit)

QUAILMASTERS 2026 - DATES & LOCATIONS

Session 1 - April 26-28 - Rolling Plains Quail Research Ranch, Roby, TX
Session 2 - June 14-16 - South Texas, Hebbronville, TX
Session 3 - August 16-18 - East Texas (TBA)
Session 4 - October 25- 27 - Panhandle (TBA)
 
Participants are responsible for their travel, lodging and some meals. Attendance at 3 of the 4 sessions is required for graduation. QuailMasters is a prestigious program which demands 110% from all participants. Registration is limited to 40, deadline to registrer is April 1, 2026. Registration cost is $600 or $300 for students. Non-refundable after March 1, 2026.
