Background
In a Pew Research Study in 2019, we learned that nearly 69% of U.S. Catholics say they personally believe that during the Solemn Mass, the bread and wine used in communion are symbols of the body and blood of Jesus Christ ... just one third believe in the Transubstantiation that during the solemn Mass, that is, the bread and wine actually become the Body and Blood of Jesus.
With the extinction of this major Catholic tenet, we are witnessing a crisis within the Church and because of this our nation. Catholics are approaching the altar without a proper examination of conscience likely because they don't believe Jesus is present in the Eucharist. Cannon Law 916 states:
"A person who is conscious of grave sin is not to celebrate Mass or receive the body of the Lord without previous sacramental confession unless there is a grave reason and there is no opportunity to confess; in this case the person is to remember the obligation to make an act of perfect contrition which includes the resolution of confessing as soon as possible."
In the teachings of St. Paul we are called to examine ourselves before we receive Jesus in the Sacrament of the Eucharist. Unlike the many graces bestowed on those who receive His Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in Holy Communion, those that receive the Eucharist unworthily, have the opposite of this desired effect. Rather than bringing the blessing of union with our Lord, it brings condemnation.1 Corinthians 11:27-29
Why do Bishops, who are the Guardians of this Sacrament, allow those who are knowingly in a grave state of sin to receive Jesus in the Holy Eucharist?
As Cannon Law 915 very clearly states:
"others obstinately persevering in manifest grave sin are not to be admitted to holy communion."
