About Scott Hanks and the Ride

Scott Hanks is a long-time supporter of Big Brothers Big Sisters, stemming from his time in the Gallup, New Mexico area. He has dreamed about riding his bike across the entire country for some time and planned to embark on that journey after retirement. After suffering a major stroke in November 2022, Scott is more determined than ever to make this dream a reality and RIDE LIKE A BOSS!

Scott was a dedicated BBBS board member and is still a generous supporter of the mission. In Scott’s words:

“Although the counties around Gallup are some of the most beautiful in the country, they are also some of the most impoverished. Many of the families living here do not even have access to running water, something most of us take for granted. BBBS touches the lives of so many of these children in a significant and positive way through their mentorship programs. It is an organization that I wholeheartedly support, so much so that I will be donating $1 to them for every mile that I complete on my cross-country journey. Furthermore, I challenge each of you to make a donation and/or volunteer your time for this worthy cause.”

Starting with his back tire in the Pacific Ocean near the Santa Monica Pier on June 17th, this is sure to be an epic ride! Please email cjhanks15@gmail.com if you would like to ride any portion of the route with Scott.
