Max's Story

One cold morning, a box of five tiny, day-old puppies was left on the doorstep of the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia. Abandoned and vulnerable, these tiny lives had little chance of survival. Our team rushed into action, placing them in an incubator and offering everything we could to save them.

With blood transfusions from four of our healthy adult dogs, we fought hard to give them a fighting chance. But despite our best efforts, only one precious pup, Max, survived the night.

Max’s will to survive was unmatched. Despite losing any chance of growing up with his biological mother and siblings all in one day, he kept fighting. Max found a new mom in Kathleen, our Operations Director, who took him home and cared for him like her own. Every two hours, she fed him, kept him warm, and poured all her love into him. With time, he grew stronger, blossoming into the sweet, spirited puppy we always knew he could be. And then, in the best ending we could hope for, Max found his forever home - a family ready to love him as much as his HSNEGA family does.
