Laundry is one of the core components of basic hygiene. Clean clothes have an impact on overall health, confidence and economic mobility.
Laundry During Crisis
Now, as our community navigates the continued devastation of ongoing wildfires, laundry is especially important. Our laundry program ensures that our participants and neighbors have clothing and blankets free from ash, toxic particles, and smells of smoke.
When Los Angeles suffered from torrential downpours during the storms of February 2024, laundry access became an urgent need for our unhoused neighbors. Being able to wash and dry your clothing, blankets, and other belongings is a basic hygiene need we should all have access to at any time — and especially when recovering from climate disasters. Our laundry program at the time was able to provide this service for numerous months, but we didn't have enough financial support at the time to continue it.
It will cost $500/month for us to provide laundry services to our participants at Luxe Laundries in Silver Lake. We hope to raise $10,000 to keep the program operating throughout 2025 and beyond.
