NOTE: SEPTEMBER 2023 BRAIN CLUB is available at no charge. Optional donations are appreciated. This supports community members serving as panelists, sharing their lived experiences.
We all have different brains that process information, think, learn, communicate and play differently. The Key to the Universe is to develop awareness of our own brains and the brains of other people. When we unlock this, we can create a more authentic, peaceful life. We can also connect more deeply with others, and experience genuine belonging. Brain Club is a weekly community conversation (Tuesdays 6-7PM EST) where we apply brain science to "everyday life" -- how we interact, play, work, and live.
This month's theme centers around Seeing Another Perspective: Neurodiversity & the Double Empathy Problem. Coined by Dr. Damian Milton, "the Double Empathy Problem" states that mismatches between two people with different communication / thinking styles results in miscommunication problems. Rather than there being one "right" or "normal" way to communicate, the key to neuroinclusion is to understand that there are multiple different ways to see the world and communicate. This requires zooming out, unlearning outdated concepts, and learning to see other perspectives.
Tuesdays 6-7PM (Zoom) + recorded for later viewing -- many thanks to our friends at Orca Media!
