Presented by The Marion Institute, Inc.

September 18, 2024 MBSR Orientation

About This Event

Health Begins with Awareness

The Marion Institute’s BioMed Program is proud to offer the seminal eight-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course. The core premise behind the proven efficacy of MBSR is that how the mind thinks – our perceptions, beliefs, reactions, etc. – has a tremendous influence on the body’s “downstream” systems.

We have the power to change our minds. Mindfulness is the path.

This introductory session will acquaint you with the practice of mindfulness in MBSR as founded in 1979 by Jon Kabat-Zinn. You will learn how this secular, scientific, evidence-based practice has become an accepted part of mainstream medicine, and discover how it can positively affect the quality of your everyday life.

Everyone interested in taking MBSR must attend one orientation. They’re always free and serve as an opportunity for you to meet the teacher, experience mindfulness meditation and movement first-hand, and have your questions answered.

What to expect from an MBSR orientation:

  • Learn about the program, ask questions, and determine whether it is right for you.
  • Meet your program instructor.
  • Experience first-hand the mindfulness methods and approaches you will be learning during the program.
  • Discuss the schedule, tuition, and other logistics.
  • Have any concerns and questions answered.

At the end of the orientation, you will be sent a mandatory questionnaire form to be filled out if you choose to take the course.
