More About Locavore Farm:

A locavore /ˈlōkəˌvôr/ is a person whose diet consists only or principally of locally grown or produced food. Local food is food that is produced within a short distance of where it is consumed!  In 2015, the Jones family introduced the region to a locavore’s table; a very long table - just over 100’-feet. Each seat at the table would serve as the end-point of the farm’s entire agricultural operation, beginning with a seed planted and ending with a feast. Guests who Dine on the Land sit at a Locavore’s table set just steps from where each ingredient had its beginning.

In October 2019, Locavore Farm was included in the Illinois Tourism Bureau’s Illinois Made Program, highlighting unique tourism attractions in the State. Locavore Farm also received a Progress Award for ‘Innovation in Agriculture’ by the Daily Journal. Locavore Farm has received national attention through various media opportunities including numerous features on WGN’s Midday News, ABC News, Localish, Farmhouse Magazine, Kankakee Podcast, Midwest Living Magazine, Chicago Magazine, Chicago Tribune, Northwest Indiana Times, Southtown Star, Heartland Stories Radio, and this March 2023 interviewed on National Geographic’s travel podcast and radio show, “Let's Go with Catie Keogh”with 56+ million followers and radio stations in 28 states across the county. Locavore Farm was featured in Mastercard’s Priceless campaign, featuring destinations around the world, offering unique dining experiences. Cardholders participated in an auction to win experiences. Mastercard contacted Locavore Farm and paid for a private event for the winning cardholder and up to eight of their guests - this opportunity positioned Locavore as a choice for tourists around the world.
