About The Lillian Lee Snyder Shine Bright Foundation

The Lillian Lee Snyder Shine Bright Foundation was established to support pediatric cardiology nurses at Nationwide Children’s Hospital by providing nurse programing, education and Heart Center research. An annual scholarship is awarded each year to a cardiothoracic nurse to advance their career and education in the pediatric specialty. The Shine Bright Foundation‘s proceeds go to an endowment fund that is managed by Nationwide Children’s Hospital Foundation to support The Heart Center.

Lillian Lee Snyder was born July 1, 2019. Within 24 hours of her birth, she was diagnosed with a rare heart condition known as a Taussig Bing Anomaly. Over 17 days, Lilly underwent 7 procedures, including two open heart surgeries. She fought hard, but ultimately the burden of her condition was too much for our little girl. While her time on this earth was brief, Lilly showed incredible resilience, strength and a fighting spirit and our family owes a tremendous amount of thanks to Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

The entire team at The Heart Center was exceptional, providing over-the-top care and support for the entire family, and the nursing staff set themselves apart with 24/7 care. Mature, knowledgeable, and patient, the nurses not only administered care for Lilly, but created a positive atmosphere during this difficult time. In our minds, the nurses represent the best of Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

To that end, we honor Lilly and the fire that burned so brightly within her by establishing The Lillian Lee Snyder Shine Bright Foundation. Together with you, we will have a positive impact on the lives of children with congenital heart defects – now and in the future – by offering incomparable care and ongoing pediatric cardiac research.
