About This Event
SUPPORT ADULT EDUCATION
You are invited to Lavender Nights with Siena Literacy Center. This event will take place on the Detroit River at the beautiful Bayview Yacht Club. There will be cocktails, appetizers, live music, a silent auction, and compelling testimonies from student and tutor speakers. Siena Literacy Center has so much to celebrate, including:
- Launching our GED program at the St. Suzanne Cody Rouge Community Resource Center, and graduating two learners!
- Establishing our Certified Nursing Assistant training program for language learners, in partnership with Nursing Detroit
- Surpassing the State of Michigan's performance benchmark, based on pre and posttest scores
- Hiring our first staff member fluent in French and Wolof
- Successfully completing two tutoring contracts with the City of Detroit's Skills for Life and Learn to Earn programs
- And so much more!
This year, adult education funding is threatened at both the state and federal levels. Your support can ensure that our doors stay open to the more than 300 learners who engage in our services annually.

ABOUT US
Siena Literacy Center provides educational programming for adults in reading, math, English language, GED preparation, digital literacy, and workforce development. We believe that education helps create equity, empowering individuals to reach their potential as parents, wage earners, and community members.
Since 1995, Siena Literacy Center has served more than 2,500 learners from more than 15 countries. Learners study at Siena for diverse reasons:
- Prepare for a GED class
- Improve job skills and employability
- Practice filling out forms and applications
- Take the US citizenship test
- Prepare for other entry level exams
- Improve computer skills and digital literacy
- Become more involved in their community
- Help their children with their homework

$100.00 - Trains one new TUTOR
$50.00 - Covers a new learner's BOOKS
$25.00 - Enrolls one NEW LEARNER
