It’s Winter 1994 in New York City and a group of young, impoverished artists is struggling to survive as temperatures fall to the freezing point and below. While they stoke the coals to keep the fire of community burning, stories are being told and retold as the snow shifts, obscures, and blows.

Jonathan Larson’s rock musical Rent made its Broadway debut in 1996, winning that year’s Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best Musical en route to a 12-year run that made it one of the longest running Broadway shows in history.

This summer, Southern Plains Productions, in partnership with the Oklahoma Pride Alliance, revives this unforgettable story for modern audiences.
