Ayden's Story

Ayden has an advanced sense of style and fashion for someone so young. He was always on the lookout for clothing that would match and pair with his trademark fedora, but being young, could only find cartoonish designs. So he decided to create his own apparel line and begin with bowties.

Ayden’s bowties were wooden! This allowed customers to customize their bowties with words, designs, or lifelike images. With the materials provided by VentureLab, Ayden was able to prototype and test various designs, a crucial step in ensuring that future material purchases would represent customer needs.

He worked on persistence and grit, prototyping, and market research during the program. The clasp for the bowtie was tricky and Ayden went through several iterations before finding a wood that was light and magnetic clip that was sturdy. He never gave up! Ayden's materials included:

  • Wood
  • Several glue types
  • Socks for fabric matching
  • Bow tie fasteners
