About This Event
Saturday, May 23 | Rain Date Sunday May 24th
Join us for an afternoon of connection, exploration, and creative expression in celebration of the trees that shape and sustain this landscape. This joyful, family-friendly gathering invites you to slow down, engage your senses, and deepen your relationship with the natural world.
We begin in the Sculpture Field, where Marc Wolf will offer a guided walk along the park’s trails, introducing you to a rich diversity of native trees. Together, we’ll learn to identify different species, explore the varied habitats across the land, and take time to greet the trees as they awaken for the season.
Following the walk, you’re invited to a community art offering led by local artist Jennifer Zackin. Through communal tree weaving, we’ll co-create a vibrant installation along the welcome trail—an act of shared intention, creativity, and care.
We’ll close the day with a simple gratitude ceremony, led by the SHP Garden Team, honoring the trees for all that they give — air, water, shelter — and marking this seasonal moment of renewal with presence and appreciation. You are welcome to bring a biodegradable offering such as feathers, flowers, handwritten notes, or small natural objects, or to gather something meaningful from the land during your visit. This small offering is intended as a gift for the many gifts trees provide every day.
Children are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult.
Program Schedule:
