Spirits with the Spectres

Registration is sold out

About This Event

On Saturday, October 18th, 120 guests will step into an unforgettable evening of spirits, stories, and community. The night begins in the Historic Strater Hotel’s Pullman Ballroom, where cocktails and hors d’oeuvres set the stage before guests depart in small groups for a three-stop Haunted History Tour led by the incomparable Horsefly History Tour guides.

Guests may choose between two unique experiences:

  • Classic Legends Tour (4:00 PM event start): Revisit beloved venues from past tours—The Ranch, Hermosa Café/Black Heron Lounge, and The May Palace.

  • New Tales Tour (5:45 PM event start): Discover a fresh lineup making their debut—Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad Sleeper Car, Lizard Head Trading Company Underground, and the Strater Theater.

Guests will enjoy custom cocktails and hors d’oeuvres throughout, hear spine-tingling history from Horsefly History Tours, and be inspired by stories from local teachers whose work has been supported through Durango Education Foundation grants.

The evening culminates back at the Strater with Rocky Mountain chocolate, champagne, final silent auction bids, costume contest winners, and our heartfelt thanks for supporting the students and educators of our community.

Tickets are $150 each, with proceeds directly benefiting the Durango Education Foundation.

What to Expect

This is no ordinary history tour—%Ename% will take you into rarely seen spaces, including underground locations, for an experience unlike anything else in Durango. To ensure a safe and enjoyable evening, please keep the following in mind:

Age & Alcohol
This is a 21+ event. Alcoholic beverages will be available alongside non-alcoholic options. If you choose to drink, please do so responsibly.

Walking & Navigation
The tour involves walking between venues, navigating steep stairs, and crossing uneven terrain. Underground access may include basements, and narrow walkways. Please wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for these conditions.

Tour Content
The stories you’ll hear reflect Durango’s real history and may include sensitive themes such as violence, homicide, suicide, and prostitution. While these accounts add to the authenticity of the tour, some content may not be suitable for all attendees.
