Horses & Painting: Equine-Assisted Creative Expression with Solano Behavioral Health Suicide Grief & Loss Support Group

Registration ends Wednesday, 11/11/2026 11:59pm PDT

About This Event

Learn about mindfulness, authenticity, compassion, & communication from horses. And express yourself through color!

We provide a safe, inclusive, and healing space for participants to have guided interactions with horses followed by self-expression through abstract painting that explores metaphors and mirrors your life experiences, personal growth, and self-discovery.

Art4Healing® invites you to paint the parts of your life needing to be explored by using the language of abstract painting on canvas. Your paintings are like journals in color instead of words.

No prior experience with horses or painting is needed. All activities with horses are guided by certified, experienced facilitators on the ground in a safe and supportive environment. There is no horseback riding in this specialized therapeutic program. You connect with the horses in a personal, deep and heartfelt way.

Combined with the healing qualities of nature, these experiences become transformative. This workshop will take place at SLT’s Rush Ranch, a place rich in beauty, history, and ecological significance. Immersion in open space allows participants to experience the calming rhythms of nature—wind moving through native grasses, the steady presence of horses, and the quiet expansiveness of protected land. This setting supports relaxation, nervous system balance, and a sense of belonging. The land connects all the people, plants, and animals that it touches.
