About Women's Cancer Resource Center
Women's Cancer Resource Center started in 1986 as an answering machine in a founder's living room. A small group of women with cancer saw that the support they needed didn't exist, so they built it themselves. Nearly 40 years later, WCRC has grown into a staff of thirteen and close to 200 active volunteers, and has served over 30,000 people.
WCRC's approach is rooted in a simple idea: cancer care has to go beyond medical treatment. When someone is diagnosed, they're often dealing with everything at once: understanding their options, managing the emotional weight, and figuring out how to keep the rest of their life together. WCRC meets people where they are with patient navigation, mental health support, support groups, wellness programs, emergency financial assistance, and help accessing social services. All of its services are free.
