Honoring Susan Gottlieb

As we begin our spring celebration, we look with joy and gratitude to Susan Gottlieb and the Gottlieb Native Garden. Susan has been part of the fabric of Theodore Payne Foundation since 1990, when her love affair with native plants began. Since then, she has had an immeasurable impact on the organization as a thought partner, supporter, and friend.

"In her garden, Susan is an ecosystem architect, cultivating a miniature biome that supports the flora within it and the fauna that visit. In her gallery and in her home, Susan is a social architect, cultivating spaces where people and ideas can blossom and thrive like the plants and animals in her garden. She has impacted people of all ages, seducing them with her garden and her gallery's photography into an understanding of the vital importance of environmental protection."

–Mallory Smith, author, "The Gottlieb Native Garden: A California Love Story," 2016

Please join us as we honor Susan and kick off Theodore Payne Foundation's inaugural Spring Fling. Your participation supports our mission to make Southern California a more biodiverse, life-sustaining place.
