DIY Pottery Tools: Damp Boxes Workshop

Only 5 tickets left!

About This Event

Learn how to make one of the most useful tools for pottery - damp boxes!! Enjoy a fun day in a shared studio environment while learning to make your own pottery tools.

Plaster-lined damp boxes enable artists to store work in a humid environment to keep clay workable for extended periods of time, eliminate damage caused by plastic wrapping, and broaden creative options by eliminating the race against drying.

Carole will provide step-by-step instruction for making damp boxes as participants complete their own damp box to take home. Discussions will include plaster use and storage, calculating plaster volume for different containers, and studio safety.

Workshop includes:

  • Damp box kit - holds 6-8 mug sized pieces
    • 18-quart lidded container
    • Plaster for damp box lining
    • 14”W x 10”L x 6.25”H interior size
  • Use of studio tools, scales, and mixing containers

Additional damp box kits are available for purchase from the instructor at www.carolerobardspottery.com/tools. Three sizes available.

Experience Level: All levels - no prior clay experience required.

Day: Saturday
Time: 9:00AM - 12:00PM
Dates: July 11, 2026
