About This Event
Champions for Wildlife would like to invite you to join us for our Wild for Art Pop-Up Club at the Columbus Library, an 8-session afterschool program for 3rd through 5th graders highlighting local pollinators and their habitats.
Throughout the eight sessions, students will explore the fascinating world of North Carolina's native pollinators, create art projects to take home, and discover how they can help protect wildlife in their own communities. Through hands-on science, creative art, and outdoor-inspired activities, each session encourages curiosity, creativity, and conservation while helping children grow into confident ambassadors for nature.
Thanks to generous funding from the Polk County Community Foundation, this club is offered free of charge to Polk County families!
What to Expect:
- 🔎 Interactive Pollinator Lessons - Learn about native pollinator species and their habitats using exploration tools like magnifiers and biofacts.
- 🎨 Hands-On Art Projects - Get creative with clay, watercolors, and more, and learn how art can be a tool to help wildlife.
- 🐝 Take Action for Pollinators - Learn simple ways you can help pollinators at home and in your community by becoming a wildlife ambassador.
Important Club Information:
- The Champions for Wildlife Pop-Up Club will run for 8 sessions, on alternating Tuesdays from 3:30-5:00. The club will start on September 1 and wrap up on December 8. An official club calendar can be found below.
- Attendance is encouraged every week. Students who miss a week will not be able to make-up the art project or learning that they missed.
- The club is designed for children in 3rd through 5th grade with an interest in wildlife, art, pollinators, and nature.
- Champions for Wildlife strives to make our programs welcoming and accessible. If your child has accommodations or support needs, please let us know during registration so we can do our best to meet them.
- The club is hosted in partnership with Polk County Public Libraries. Champions for Wildlife staff and trained volunteers will guide students through each session.
- Parents/guardians are responsible for transporting students to and from the library.
- Registration is limited to 20 students and closes on August 24. Once the club reaches capacity, registration will close. To be added to the waitlist, please email alexis@championsforwildlife.org.

🎉 Celebration Showcase:
The club will conclude with a special Family Art Gallery on December 8, where students will showcase their artwork, share what they've learned about pollinators, and celebrate their accomplishments with family and friends over light refreshments.
- Photo Release Consent: By registering, I hereby grant Champions for Wildlife the irrevocable and unrestricted right to use and publish photographs and videos of myself and those in my party, or those in which I/we may be included, for the purpose of publicity and fundraising.
