FEAST with Mario Batali

Registration has ended

About This Event

Join Teens for Food Justice as we FEAST with Mario Batali, Theresa Rebeck, Eisa Davis, and Aurin Squire for an unforgettable evening merging theater and the culinary arts in support of youth-led healthy food access and honoring the leadership of our Co-founder and Board Chair, Tara Smith Swibel.

This one-of-a-kind event will blend the culinary vision of world-renowned chef Mario Batali with the creativity of Pulitzer-Prize nominated playwrights Theresa Rebeck and Eisa Davis, along with This is Us writer, Aurin Squire for a reinvention of “dinner theater” that is intimate, sophisticated and visceral in its support of this critical social justice issue.

Chef Batali will collaborate with three notable playwrights, each of whom will create a short, unique play for this one night. The themes of the plays will be inspired by both the menu and the mission of Teens for Food Justice.

As the evening unfolds, performances begin spontaneously at table amongst the diners, in harmony with the course that was just served. This innovative evening is created and produced by Eating Their Words.

TFFJ is galvanizing a youth-led movement to end food insecurity in one generation. TFFJ teens master the high-tech science and business of hydroponic farming, growing large quantities of produce inside their schools, plus the skills to serve as health/nutrition ambassadors and food justice movement builders in their own food desert communities.
