Gentle Chair Yoga for Grounding

About This Event

Meeting day: Mondays (weekly for 6 weeks)
Dates: June 15 - July 20, 2026
Time: 6:30 - 7:30pm ET
Facilitator: Sasha Siegel
Location: Virtual
Theme: Self Care

Description:

A chair can offer support, freedom, and creativity in our yoga practice. This series revolves around seated asana (postures) as we slowly explore movement, breath, and meditation. Learn how to adapt movement to fit your body exactly as it is. Experiment with what feels “less bad”, okay, or good in your bodies. This practice is designed for those who use mobility devices or have limited range of motion. It’s also suited for those who usually practice on the mat, but want to try a new approach to yoga. You are in charge of how (or if) you move. Rest and breaks are encouraged, and you’re welcome to keep your camera on or off. Beginners are welcome. All genders are welcome.

Requirements:  Chair, blanket, possibly yoga mat

All summer workshops will have a component of Circle, and participants with or without Circle experience are welcome.

Sasha Sigel (she/her) Sasha Sigel (she/her) is a white, queer, cis woman. She honors yoga as a pathway to self healing + liberation, as well as collective transformation. She invites a deeper relationship to ourselves, communities, and the world through this practice. Sasha celebrates exploration and personalization of the practice, and honors the student as the expert on their own body. In addition to her personal relationship with trauma, she trained in yoga for trauma with The Trauma Center at JRI’s Trauma Sensitive Yoga program, and continues to learn through organizations like Accessible Yoga.

The Practice Coalition is a 501(c)3 non-profit, here to bring Yoga for Trauma to survivors of domestic and sexual violence. We are here to serve these communities with the practices of yoga, as a means to support, uplift and inspire. We want survivors to have access to these practices without cost or question.
