Presented by Hidden Water, Inc.

The Body Remembers, the Parent Rewrites

About This Event

Meeting day: Wednesday
Dates: July 1, 2026
Time: 5:15 - 7:15pm ET
Facilitator: Sarah Jacob, LCSW, RYT
Location: Virtual
Theme: Self Care, Conflict Resolution Processes, Child Sexual Abuse Training

Description:

As a new parent and someone who identifies as a Blue within Hidden Water, I draw on my training as a social worker and psychotherapist to support my partner and myself as we navigate the transition into parenting our baby girl. This stage of life can bring both deep love and profound grief, especially when it involves witnessing a family lineage impacted by childhood sexual abuse and making the conscious choice to interrupt that cycle. In this workshop, I will use a circle process to support new parents, those considering parenthood, and those who feel unsure how to begin conversations about a history of childhood sexual abuse with their partners. Together, we will create space to acknowledge the complexity of this work and the emotional weight it carries. As S. Kelley Harrell writes, “We do not heal in isolation, but in community.” This offering invites participants to come together in shared reflection and support, with the intention of becoming a turning point in their family’s story and moving toward healing across present and future generations.

Requirements:  Computer (due to virtual space)

All summer workshops will have a component of Circle, and participants with or without Circle experience are welcome.

Sarah Jacob, LCSW, RYT  My name is Sarah Jacob, a NY and NJ Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in sexual trauma, domestic violence, CPTSD, and relationships. I have an extensive history working with survivors of childhood sexual abuse and have an integrative, somatic, and trauma-informed approach. Some techniques I use are EMDR, mindfulness-based cognitive therapies, and somatic resourcing such as yoga and somatic experiencing (SE) to connect the mind, body, and spirit. I have recently turned toward the indigenous practice of circle keeping to address ending family roots of childhood sexual abuse.

Paint the Sky Blue Therapy, PLLC  My group practice offers trauma-informed, relational therapy that integrates mind, body, and spirit. I support individuals in understanding how trauma, including childhood sexual abuse, is held in the body and expressed through patterns of behavior and emotional responses. Through a collaborative and attuned process, clients build awareness of these patterns, explore their origins, and develop more supportive ways of relating to themselves and their experiences.
