On July 30th, 2024, our world was forever changed when we lost our daughter, Nova May Baker, to a brain tumor. She was just 9 years old. A radiant, curious soul, Nova was a child who dreamed big. One day she wanted to be a veterinarian, the next a fashion designer, a teacher, a baker. Her dreams were endless, just like her imagination and her love of learning.
Nova had a way of lighting up a room. Whether it was a new fact about space or animals, she loved to teach others, even if she had just discovered it herself. She believed knowledge was meant to be shared and to help others.
We started the Super Nova Sunshine Kid Scholarship Award in Nova’s honor to carry forward her light and her love for learning. This annual scholarship, awarded every July 30th on her angelversary, is dedicated to students who, like Nova, have fought the hard battle against cancer, enduring unimaginable challenges and still they rise ready to build a bright future through education.
Super Nova's legacy lives on in beautiful ways, and with this scholarship, our bright star helps light the way of a Sunshine Kid's path toward their dreams.
We invite you to donate and join us in gifting another Sunshine Kid—just like Nova—the chance to keep learning, keep dreaming, and reach for the stars!
