About This Event
Featuring Jordan Wax & Jake Shulman-Ment
Ever tried to explain a Yiddish-speaking monster to a four-year-old? Now’s your chance.
Join us for a participatory concert that’s part folklore, part rhythm, and 100% screen-free energy. Santa Fe’s own Jordan Wax and master violinist Jake Shulman-Ment are bringing the "golden chain" of Yiddish tradition to the foothills—minus the stuffiness and plus a lot of stomping.
Expect songs from the new album Pantakozak about everything from polar bears to legendary creatures. If you’ve been looking for a way to get your kids into Yiddish culture without a textbook, this is the "golden chain" you've been waiting for.
The Game Plan:
-
The Show (45 mins): A high-energy performance where kids are encouraged to move and adults are encouraged to remember how to play.
-
The Motzei-Mosey: After the music, we’ll "go out" from the show with a Motzei-Mosey—a gentle, unhurried community walk to ease into the new week. It’s a chance to chat, let the kids run, and keep the phones in our pockets.
The Fine Print:
-
Who: Open to the public, but space is limited! Grab your spot today before the polar bears take them all.
-
The Ticket: No child, no entry. All adults must be accompanied by at least one minor (they’re your V.I.P. pass).
-
The "Chai" Stake: We suggest an $18 donation per family to help us pay these world-class musicians in something other than challah.
-
Change of Plans? If your weekend takes a turn and you can't make it, please let us know so we can free up space for another family on the waitlist.
Wait, who are these guys?
Jordan Wax is a cultural activist and multi-instrumentalist who spent years learning from Yiddish elders. He co-composed this album with actual preschoolers, so he knows exactly what it takes to keep a four-year-old engaged.
Jake Shulman-Ment is a world-renowned klezmer violinist. He’s very fancy, very talented, and surprisingly good at playing music that makes people want to hop like a Pantakozak.
