About This Event

Experience an Ancient Form of Hospitality

Taste of Shabbat: A Narrated Sabbath Seder and Festive Meal

A Program of Shabbat with Friends New Mexico (SWF)

For over 2,000 years, Jewish homes have celebrated the joy of Shabbat (Sabbath) meals. At Shabbat with Friends (SWF), we host a Sabbath meal that shares the origins and meaning of these ancient traditions, fostering fellowship in a time of division.

A Sabbath Seder is the ordered ritual of a sacred meal held on Friday evening, Saturday lunch, or late Saturday afternoon. SWF Convener, Rabbi Dov Gartenberg, explains these traditions and offers ways to revive them in your own circle of friends.

We welcome people of all backgrounds—anyone curious about this ancient practice of hospitality, spirituality, and conviviality.

Taste of Shabbat gatherings are listed on our Calendar/RSVP page and occur regularly throughout the year in Albuquerque or Santa Fe. SWF provides a kosher catered meal for adults, with discounts for children, students, and seniors. This meal also includes the Havdallah ritual which concludes the Sabbath day. Taste of Shabbat is open to the community. It is catered by Sunday with Grams and features traditional Shabbat foods and delicacies. See the registration for the cost of reservations.

Deadline for reservations are Friday morning, 12/26 at 9am.
