About This Event

April Member Dinner with Master Gardener Anne Sutherland: Harvesting Success in your own Backyard!

Thursday, April 9  |  6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Growing vegetables can be challenging but rewarding when you taste that first ripe
tomato you grew yourself. Join us for an evening witih Master Gardener Anne Sutherland as she shares the foundations of harvesting your own vegetable garden.

Bring your questions as there'll be plenty of time for Q & A after her presentation.

About Anne:

Anne is a volunteer with the UC Master Gardener Program from the Class of 2020. She began gardening with her husband George when they were both medical residents at UC Davis Medical Center. It was then that she met her first tomato horn worm and discovered that rice hulls took longer than her residency to turn into compost. Her fascination with watching plants grow began in her Kansas grandmother’s garden, digging for peanuts in the rich, dark soil. Now that Anne has retired from Medicine, she takes care of plants. They never ask for the prescription pad!
Anne has recently moved from Contra Costa County and is now with the San Mateo/San Francisco Master Gardener group. Her biggest accomplishment has been forming a gardening outreach program for Spanish-speaking residents in Contra Costa County. She is grateful for her wonderful new friends and their support after losing George.
