About This Event
Come Cook with Beverly & Yana!
As fall settles in, join Beverly & Yana for a fun, cozy 3-hour hands-on cooking experience in Beverly’s Kitchen as we explore the vibrant flavors of North African cuisine.
We’ll be making Shakshuka—eggs gently poached in a rich, spiced tomato and pepper sauce—with two delicious versions: one with ground lamb and one vegetarian. We’ll chop, cook, taste, laugh, and, of course, eat together!
When: Wednesday, October 14 | 5:00–8:00 PM
Space is limited: 10 seats
Cost: $15 per person to cover the cost of ingredients
Bring your apron and come ready to cook! You’ll learn something new, enjoy delicious food, and spend a fun evening with fellow Burlingame Women’s Club members.
Feel free to bring a light appetizer to enjoy while we cook. We’ll provide drinks, the main course, and dessert.
Questions? Contact Beverly Lock
What is Shakshuka?
Shakshuka is a beloved North African dish traditionally made by simmering tomatoes, peppers, onions, and spices, then poaching eggs directly in the sauce. While its exact origins are debated, Tunisia is often credited as its birthplace. The dish has since traveled throughout the Middle East and Mediterranean, inspiring countless regional variations.
For our class, we’ll make a vegetarian version as well as a ground-lamb Shakshuka, seasoned with classic North African flavors including cumin, coriander, paprika, harissa, and a touch of cinnamon.
