Riparian Landowner Workshop

Calling all Riparian landowners in Kendall County! In the wake of the July 2026 flooding, many in the region were reminded of the tragic implications of living in flashflood alley on our communities and land. The stewardship of our creeks and rivers reflect not only the health of our habitats but also the health of our regions water quality.

On Monday, October 19, from 9am-12pm, join us at The Cibolo Center for Conservation for a FREE workshop where Steve Nelle and Daniel Oppenheimer with Hill Country Alliance will present on the importance of healthy riparian zones for flood resilience. Learn how riparian zones recover after floods, how landowners can support that recovery through vegetation management, and why native vegetation helps stabilize riverbanks and promote ecosystem recovery. Plus, you'll have the opportunity to meet fellow landowners working to steward and recover from flood damage. After the presentations, join Steve Nelle for a walk along the Cibolo Creek where he'll share his expertise in riparian ecosystems in the Texas Hill Country.

Workshop attendees will also receive a free bag of riparian seed mix to take home and help recover from vegetation loss in the recent flooding.
