About This Free Online Conversation
Pacifica Christian High School-Orange County invites you to the next installment of The Great Conversation—a special ONLINE conversation with featured speaker, Dr. Peter Kreeft, who reflects on the enduring dialogue of Western civilization's greatest minds across history, where philosophers, theologians, and writers respond to, critique, and build upon one another’s ideas regarding truth and ultimate reality
The Socratic Lineage: He refers to history's philosophers as "Socrates' Children" because nearly every subsequent thinker grappled with—or built upon—the foundational questions originally posed by Socrates.
A Living Dialogue: Kreeft believes that engaging in philosophy isn't just about memorizing historical dates; it’s about participating directly in this active, living dialogue across time.
The Four Eras: He maps out this great conversation across four major volumes: Ancient, Medieval, Modern, and Contemporary. He highlights how every thinker contributes to this web of ideas, responding to their predecessors and trying to make sense of what it means to be human.
This online conversation is a collaboration between Pacifica Christian-Orange County's The Great Conversations, Pacifica Christian-Santa Monica's Center for Philosophy & Theology, and the Augustine Center: A Center for Christian Thought and Formation at UCLA.

GET TO KNOW DR. KREEFT
The Great Conversation is honored to host Dr. Peter Kreeft. Dr. Peter Kreeft is one of the most widely read and engaging Christian thinkers of our time. A longtime professor of philosophy at Boston College and the author of more than 100 books, he has spent his career helping ordinary Christians wrestle with life’s greatest questions: Who is God? What is truth? What makes a life good? How can reason strengthen faith? And what does it mean to be fully human?
Our attendees will encounter a deeply Christian thinker whose work is rooted in a love for Christ, confidence in the truth of the faith, and a desire to recover the shared intellectual inheritance of the Church.
Known for books such as Handbook of Christian Apologetics, You Can Understand the Bible, and the four-volume Socrates’ Children, Dr. Kreeft has a rare gift for making difficult ideas clear without making them small. With wisdom, humor, and an unmistakably Socratic style, he invites audiences not merely to study the great thinkers of history, but to enter their conversation and examine the questions that continue to shape our lives, our culture, and our understanding of God.
