Screenwriting Sprint: Exploring Feature Film Structure with A.C. Cole

Registration ends Wednesday, 02/11/2026 5:00pm EST

About This Event

Wednesdays, 5:00–7:30 PM
February 11 – March 18, 2026

Session Dates:
February 11, February 18, February 25, March 4, March 11, March 18

In our previous winter Screenwriting Sprint, participants explored the craft of creating a compelling short film centered on a single hook, message, or thematic statement, drawing from "Save The Cat" and Hero’s Journey 'beats.' In this six-week course, the focus shifts to feature-length screenwriting, using John Truby’s "The Anatomy of a Story" as a framework to examine core feature-film tenets and seven-act structure.

Participants will analyze a selection of thoughtfully chosen, often underrated films from around the world while developing their own feature-length story beats. Every screenplay begins somewhere, and after more than a decade of writing without outlining, A.C. Cole is now a firm believer in the process. Newcomers and returning Sprint participants alike are welcome.

About the Instructor
A.C. Cole is a 2025 NYFA Grant Winner, Screencraft Fellowship Winner, Athena Film Festival Writers Lab Fellow at Barnard College, and an AMC Athena Writers Room nominee.
