Adoption after Infertility/Navigating Loss

Virtual Course

Fridays, January 30, February 13 & 27, March 13 and April 10, 2026

12:00 p.m.- 1:00 p.m. CDT

Presenter: Sara Forsythe Menna, LCSW

Case presentation and consultation. Infertility and adoption can present unique issues for our patients. The inherent loss and complicated grief can be another layer in the treatment. This will be a consultation group where clinicians can bring cases to discuss with the group and receive support and guidance. How can we sit with these painful losses? How can we grow with our patients and invite curiosity that will assist in developing a deeper awareness of the self and the self in relation to others.

Presenter: Sara Forsythe Menna is a licensed clinical social worker who has been in private practice for over twenty years. She received her master’s in social work from Loyola University and completed the Adult Psychotherapy program from the Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute in 2005. In addition to her clinical practice she has done supervision, led training groups for fellows, and presented on adoption and infertility. Currently she is in private practice on the North side of Chicago where she sees individuals and couples.
