About This Event

Williams Island Trail- Volunteer Day

TRGT has designed a new 2-mile loop trail on the historic Williams Island that will take hikers past points of interest, grassland restoration sites, and wildlife viewing areas. The trail layout is complete thanks to help from the Tennessee Division of Archaeology, Eastern Band of the Cherokee, and Muscogee Creek Nation.  Now, it’s time to start trail construction and we'd love your help! TRGT will provide lunch, drinks, and snacks to volunteers.

Date: June 8, 2026

Time: 9:00 am - 3:00 pm EST

Meeting Location: 613 Terminal Road, Chattanooga, TN 37405 (drive to the dead end of the gravel road; you'll see our pole shed and storage lot on the left)

What to Bring: Please wear closed toe shoes, long pants, and bring a water bottle.

What to Expect: We’ll be doing moderately strenuous trail work on flat terrain. The group will be clearing brush and invasive species to create the corridor for the new Williams Island Trail. The work will involve using hand tools to pull weeds, cutting and dragging brush, and building trail tread. The island can be hot and humid, so please be prepared for the weather.
