About This Event
Come for an evening of fun and festivity at this culinary event in support of Tri-Lakes Cares. Sip, taste, and meet local chefs and cooks as they compete in a Chopped-style food competition with items from our food pantry -including a surprise challenge ingredient. Celebrity food writer Matthew Schniper will take part in judging and declare “Judges Favorite” for this 2024 event. You will also be able to cast your vote for your favorite restaurant creation.
Enjoy games and socializing on the scenic grounds at Spruce Mountain Events. The evening will include a brief presentation reflecting on 40 years serving the community and casting a vision for the season ahead. We will recognize lives impacted by the work of Tri-Lakes Cares and those who have made it possible.

- Bite-sized, samples of tastings
- Please be advised that each chef will create their own items so there is no guarantee of gluten-free, vegan or other dietary restricted items
- Cash Bar with wine, beer, soft drinks, water
- Handicapped accessible - all one level, no stairs
- Plenty of onsite parking
- All attendees must have a ticket - no tickets sold at door
- Ticket cut off date is May 6, 2024 - no tickets will be sold after May 6
- Tickets are non-refundable, but can be transferred to another attendee. Call Christine at 719-370-1317 for information.

Matthew Schniper, local food journalist joins us in 2024!
Matthew Schniper is an independent food/drink journalist and the former food and drink editor at the Colorado Springs Independent. He began freelancing with the Indy in mid-2004 and joined the staff full-time in early 2006, working as an arts editor as well as food critic and environmental reporter. He held the position of head editor from mid 2016 to mid 2019. From 2019 to early 2023 he was food and drink editor and food critic. Matthew launched Side Dish with Schniper, a food/drink Substack, in March, 2023.
His work has also appeared in The Atlantic, Food Network Magazine and several national alternative newsweeklies. Matthew graduated from Colorado College in 2001 with a creative writing and film degree. Between studies and writing, Matthew spent roughly 10 years in the restaurant industry, cooking, serving and managing. He has dined his way through more than 35 countries, and is also a photographer.
