Supporting Vulnerable Lives
Care Resource established The Spot, a mobile medical clinic, to serve Broward County's most vulnerable populations. The clinic offers the county's only Safe Syringe Exchange Program (SSEP) to combat the opioid crisis and reduce infectious disease spread.
Broward County has high rates of overdose deaths and new HIV infections, largely due to opioids like fentanyl and heroin. The Spot addresses this by providing clean syringes, healthcare, behavioral health support, social services, and COVID-19 vaccinations.
Research shows that SSEPs are safe, effective, and cost saving, reducing disease transmission and overdose deaths without increasing drug use or crime. The Spot also educates, offers medical care, and connects individuals to substance abuse treatment programs.
Through your support of sterile syringes and clinic operations you can help save lives, prevent disease, and provide essential healthcare to those in need.
