Michael Fuchs, Conductor

Join the Twin Ports Choral Project for a musical journey through the stories and voices that have shaped the American experience. As the nation approaches its 250th anniversary, this concert reflects on moments of struggle, resilience, and hope through music rooted in America’s rich choral traditions. At the center of the program is The American Road by Shawn Okpebholo, a powerful choral suite that reimagines familiar American melodies to tell stories of sacrifice, oppression, healing, and hope. With expressive solos and rich choral writing, the work weaves together folk songs, hymns, and spirituals to offer a deeply human portrait of America’s ongoing journey. Through meaningful storytelling and rich musical expression, TPCP invites audiences to reflect on not only where America has been, but also where it hopes to go.
