Rock the Rez

What is Rock The Rez?

Rock The Rez is a 501c3 that hosts 5-day Rock-n-Roll music camps for Indigenous girls, Two Spirit, and LGBTQ+ youth. Campers come to camp, learn an instrument in 5 days, and create a band that will perform at the end of the week for their friends and families! Rock The Rez invites local artists, leaders, and culture keepers who identify as Indigenous womxn, femme, or LGBTQ+  to lead workshops and instrument instruction. We aim to build a community where curiosity about culture, art, and music is celebrated, and our youth have adults to turn to as their mentors.

Community Event at The Dahl 

This event will bring people together and help raise funds for camp. We will celebrate Indigenous musicians and allies by enjoying music and bringing the spirit of camp to folks for the first time. This event will be open to families; it feels important to us that youth are exposed to music projects led by Indigenous folks. During this event, we will have small activities for kids  (such as coloring tables, crafts, etc.), light snacks, and information about our first week-long camp in Rapid City. Attendees will have opportunities to donate to Rock The Rez and sign up to receive more information about camp.
