About This Event

Hard Hat Tour of Longfellow Corner in Oakland

Lace up your closed-toe shoes and join us for a Hard Hat Tour of Longfellow Corner in its final phase of construction. Groups 15 people will tour with a guide from RCD and/or SVA Architects. Tours will last approximately 45 minutes. We have limited capacity for attendees; please do not attend without a ticket.

Once completed in fall 2026, this 100% affordable housing community will create 77 new homes for low-income families and households transitioning out of homelessness. Located just blocks away from BART, the new building will transform a prominent corner from a vacant, blighted lot into service-enriched housing with community-serving commercial space.

We began working on this exciting, transit-oriented development in 2017 and it took immense partnership and collaboration to reach this milestone. Thank you to our funders including:

  • City of Oakland and Oakland Housing Authority
  • California Department of Housing & Community Development (HCD)
  • California Strategic Growth Council (SGC) and California Air Resources Board (CARB)
  • California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC)
  • California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC),
  • U.S. Bank
  • Red Stone Equity Partners LLC
  • California Tax Credit Allocation Committee (TCAC)

A big thank you also to HKIT Architects for their early work as the design architect leading the conceptual planning and entitlement process. Thank you to our design and construction partners, SVA Architects and Branagh Construction, led by our wonderful RCD team of Nicole Brown and Carolyn Bookhart!
