Grand Opening: Maudelle Miller Shirek Community

Resources for Community Development (RCD) invites you to celebrate the Grand Opening of Maudelle Miller Shirek Community, our newest affordable housing community in Berkeley. Please join us for light refreshments, remarks from our partners and a resident, and a tour of the property. 

Maudelle Miller Shirek Community is a vibrant residential development with 87 new affordable family apartments, including 12 homes reserved for formerly unhoused households. Centrally located across the street from the Ashby BART station, this mixed-use community is close to shopping, schools, dining, and jobs. The ground floor, community-serving commercial space is occupied by Healthy Black Families, a South Berkeley-based nonprofit. Maudelle Miller Shirek Community offers residents on-site supportive services and property management, and includes a community room with a full kitchen and parking for bikes and automobiles.
