About This Event
For the 5th year in a row, we're inviting you to a bash at our largest food growing site (which also has an interesting history). The Rivoli Bluff Farm and Restoration Site includes vegetable growing plots, beehives, a gravel bed tree nursery, community gardens, fruit trees, an Indigenous Medicine Garden, and a Children’s Garden.
We hope to see you on September 13 for a fun, open house-style event including:
- Free produce giveaway supported by Xcel Energy for their Day of Service
- Free meal distribution supported by the Minnesota Vikings Foundation and Vikings Table
- Free backpacks with school supplies from Greater Twin Cities United Way
- The Free Book Buggie (morning only)
- Tiny Footprint Coffee samples
- Farm tours
- DJ Kool Akiem
- Children's Garden activities, including free face painting provided by A Touch of Magic Entertainment
- Community organization information tables, including:
- Bell Museum
- Community Power
- Face2Face
- Metro Blooms
- Minnesota Tool Library
- Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge
- MN SEED
- MSP LTER
- Payne-Phalen Community Council
- Railroad Island Neighborhood Group

Click here to watch a short Instagram reel from last year's Rivoli Bluff Bash.
Please note that this event takes place on a working urban farm site with uneven, unpaved ground. A portable toilet is available onsite.
The event is free to attend, but pre-registration through this site is appreciated so we know how many people to expect. Click "Get Tickets" to let us know you're coming!
Thank you so much to Blaze Credit Union, East Side Funders Group, and Ramsey County Public Health for sponsoring this event, and thank you to Oxendale's Market for supplying ingredients for the event's Cook Fresh Program activity.
About Urban Roots
Urban Roots is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides paid internships to youth on the East Side of Saint Paul. Youth interns develop leadership, entrepreneurial, and life skills through our Market Garden, Conservation, and Cook Fresh programs. Each year, up to 91 youth interns, ages 14-24, participate in our progressive, tiered programming, connecting to one another and the world around them. Stay up-to-date on our work, events, and more by signing up for our email newsletter at UrbanRootsMN.org/EmailSignUp.
Special Notes About Getting to Our Site
It's common for map apps to incorrectly send people to HealthPartners on the wrong side of Phalen Blvd. If you end up there, travel east on Phalen Blvd, turn right (south) on Payne Ave, and then follow the map below.
There is construction on Minnehaha Ave E. Please use the alternate route shown here.
