About This Event
The USS Cleveland Legacy Foundation invites the people of Northeast Ohio to take part in the historic welcome for USS Cleveland on Saturday, May 9, 2026.
Through the USS Cleveland Welcome Color Guard, citizens will gather at eight designated lakefront sites between Vermilion and Cleveland to watch the ship’s arrival as it makes its way to the Port of Cleveland.

- Main Street Beach & Park (480 Main St, Vermilion, OH 44089)
- Lakeview Park (1615 W Erie Ave, Lorain, OH 44052)
- Community Park and Boat Launch (4101 E Lake Rd, Sheffield Lake, OH 44054)
- Veterans Memorial Park (32756 Lake Rd, Avon Lake, OH 44012)
- Huntington Reservation / Huntington Beach (28492 Lake Rd, Bay Village, OH 44140)
- Bradstreet’s Landing (22400 Lake Rd, Rocky River, OH 44116)
- Lakewood Park, Solstice Steps (14532 Lake Ave, Lakewood, OH 44107)
- Edgewater Park (Cleveland, OH 44102)
For a $31 donation, individuals, families, and organizations may sponsor a flag and join the Color Guard as the ship passes each lakefront site. Participants will raise their flags in a patriotic display of community pride and keep them afterward as a commemorative memento of this once-in-a-generation event.
Each flag is part of a Valley Forge United States Flag Kit, featuring a U.S.-made 3' x 5' American flag, a three-piece 6-foot pole, a bald eagle topper, and a wall mount for display after the event.
Flags will be distributed by USS Cleveland Legacy Foundation representatives at the park selected during registration. Exact times for flag distribution and USS Cleveland passage will be sent the week prior to the event.
