About This Event

Early Response Teams (ERT) provide critical assistance immediately following a disaster, focusing on essential tasks to prevent further damage, such as tarping roofs and performing minor repairs to make homes safe and habitable. While ERT members don't undertake major repairs or reconstruction, their work is vital in stabilizing communities during the early stages of recovery.

In this training, you’ll learn how to effectively support disaster survivors, offering both practical help and hope. The course covers the phases of disaster response, safety protocols, and essential early response skills, including roof tarping, debris removal, and cleaning out flooded homes. After successfully completing the training and passing a background check, you’ll be eligible to apply for a three-year ERT badge. Participants must be 18 years or older.

The $35 registration fee (or $45 if you request a printed copy of the curriculum) includes all training materials, a snack and lunch, a background check, and an identification badge. The ERT badge is valid for 3 years and is renewed with a 4-hour online training.

Early Response Team (ERT) training prepares you to offer compassionate support to those affected—whether by listening to survivors, helping with physical recovery efforts, or providing hospitality and logistical help. All are welcome, whether you're drawn to serve with your hands, your heart, or both. If you're interested in disaster response but unable to attend this session, please reach out to Kristina Clark to explore other opportunities.

Please register using your legal name (that matches your social security card) and personal email address. Ensure that the same legal name and email are used for the background check.
