The Teen Summer Camp program combines fun activities with exploring mobility options like guide dog travel, discovering leadership skills and building friendships with peers facing similar challenges. Campers receive a free HumanWare GPS to help increase their travel independence. They also have the opportunity to learn about living and working with a guide dog.

Your monthly support at this level can help pay for a white cane for a client in Orientation and Mobility training.Orientation and mobility (O&M) training is where clients learn how to use a white cane to effectively know where they are, where they want to go and the skills to get to their destination.

Your monthly support at this level can help provide routine veterinary services and enrichment for puppies and dogs on campus. The canine development center spaces provide sensory impact to include visual stimulus allowing dog-to-dog and dog-to-human line of sight, tactile co-housing opportunities, auditory enrichment and exposure to natural sunlight. Social interaction spaces support supervised play and exercise time both indoors and in safe, fenced outdoor spaces.

Your monthly support at this level can help provide lodging, meals and transportation for clients while they are in training at the Leader Dog campus. Each client has a private room with access to a fenced-in outdoor yard and pea gravel relief areas for the dogs, enclosed pens for the dogs to play when off leash, and an outdoor pavilion.Once clients have received their Leader Dog, the dog stays in the room with them for the remainder of training.

Your monthly support at this level can help maintain or update our on-campus veterinary clinic.Our esteemed team of veterinarians has the responsibility of caring for hundreds of dogs at all stages of life.The veterinary clinic is centrally located in the canine center to allow quick, easy access to the vets from any of the areas that dogs are housed. The clinic includes defined areas for X-ray, surgery, post-surgery recovery and endoscopic procedures.

Your monthly support at this level can help provide specalized guide dog and orientation and mobility training with our experienced guide dog mobility instructors. In 1992, Leader Dogs for the Blind became the first organization to provide guide dogs specifically trained for clients who are both deaf and blind. Instruction is provided via American Sign Language, eithertactileor visual, based on a client’s range of vision.
