Join Lions & Rabbits Center for the Arts this June as we support a variety of community-centered projects, public art initiatives, and placemaking events throughout Detroit.
Volunteer Opportunities
Portrait & Storytelling Sessions
Support participant check-in, welcoming guests, setup, hospitality, and general event operations during survivor portrait and storytelling sessions. These sessions are part of STILL HERE: Rooted in Place, Emerging in Public, a long-term public art installation that honors cancer survivors through portraiture, storytelling, and community engagement.
Community Dinner & Paint-by-Numbers Mural Event (June 25)
Help welcome guests, support event logistics, assist participants with the collaborative paint-by-numbers mural, and contribute to an evening celebrating creativity, community, and neighborhood storytelling during International Placemaking Week.
Public Art Installation Support
Help prepare, organize, transport, and install artwork as projects continue taking shape throughout Detroit. Tasks may include lifting materials, panel preparation, setup, and installation support.

- June 23 | 4:30 PM – 7:00 PM
- June 24 | 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Community Dinner & Paint-by-Numbers Event
- June 25 | Evening Event 5:00 - 8:00pm
No prior experience is required. Additional details, locations, and volunteer instructions will be provided prior to each opportunity.
