A Refugee’s Origin Opening Reception

Shell Gallery is proud to announce the opening of A Refugee’s Origin, a solo exhibition by mixed-media artist and rheumatologist K.T.Ho. On view from April 27 through May 29, 2026, the exhibition presents 29 works spanning painting, installation, drawing, photography, and collage. A Refugee’s Origin charts K.T.Ho’s diasporic journey from Vietnam to Louisiana, tracing the long shadow of French colonialism on her family’s history and her own identity. Through the intersection of two cultures and two religious traditions, the artist examines themes of self-sacrifice, survival, and assimilation — arriving ultimately at a place of gratitude and reconciliation.
