Continuum Exhibition Opening Reception

About This Event

Continuum presents a focused selection of David Bruner’s collages, portraits, and abstractions, shaped by memory, loss, and resilience. At the center is his Neutral Ground series, where New Orleans history, and architectural structure intersect, forming visual maps of tension and transition. Bruner’s portraits and self-portraits reflect the ongoing work of reconstructing selfhood through art. His quieter floral and abstract pieces offer moments of reflection within that journey. Bruner has thrived through cancer and a world marked by the AIDS crisis. His continuing work makes room for everything that shaped him. Continuum is about what carries forward. It’s about rebuilding from fragments and finding yourself in the spaces between who you were, what you survived, and how to move forward.

This exhibition is dedicated to the memory of Cary Saurage, a close friend of the artist. Carey’s vision and compassion helped cultivate a home for art in Baton Rouge, and his legacy carries forward in the work shown here.
