About This Event
In Remembrance of Our Little Ones Gone Too Soon
October is Infant & Pregnancy Loss Awareness Month, a time to remember the babies we carry in our hearts and honor the families who have experienced pregnancy or infant loss. The Nest at Stewart Memorial invites all families, friends and supporters to join us for a special evening of remembrance in recognition of the international Wave of Light.
Thursday, October 15, 2026
6:30–7:30 PM
Lake City Community Building
This gathering will provide a meaningful space to come together, remember little ones gone too soon and support the families who carry their memory. The evening will include a special reading, music, the reading of babies' names, a moment of silence and a butterfly release.
Memorial Cards
If you have a little one you wish to honor, or would like to remember a family member's baby, memorial cards are available in the Stewart Memorial Lake City Clinic Rotunda and at registration desks at our outlying Stewart Memorial clinics.
You may complete a card and bring it to the remembrance gathering, place it on the Memorial Table in the Lake City Clinic Rotunda, or mail it to:
Rachel Walters
1301 West Main St.
Lake City, IA 51449
Cards will also be available at the event for anyone who would like to create one that evening.
Memorial cards will remain on display in the Lake City Clinic Rotunda throughout October, alongside memorial candles, as a continuing tribute to the little ones we remember.
Taking Your Memorial Card Home
If you would like to take your memorial card home, cards may be picked up from the Memorial Table in the Lake City Clinic Rotunda November 1–10, 2026.
Honor Your Little One
Families may choose to have their baby recognized during the event by submitting their baby's name when they RSVP to have their little one included in the evening's reading. You do not need to be present at the event for your baby's name to be included.
When you RSVP, you may also choose to participate in the butterfly release by requesting a butterfly to release in memory of your little one. The butterfly release will take place weather permitting.
Whether you are remembering a little one, supporting a loved one or simply standing alongside families in our community, all families, friends and supporters are welcome.
