BLACK FARMERS ASSOCIATION OF NORTH CAROLINA

Although Black people have worked the land as both slaves and sharecroppers for generations, less than 2000 of the 50,000 farmers in North Carolina are Black–and most cannot absorb the support of the USDA.  Grounded in a deep and rich history of community restoration over decades, a group of trusted and community-driven Black leaders  are coming together to form the Black Farmers Association of North Carolina with a goal of improving farm ownership and regenerative farming practices by minority farmers, access to markets, and improvement of funds flow in policies like the Farm Bill to be available and to reach Black farmers.  More importantly, they believe that restoring a connection to land and practices that restore the earth is an important step toward restoring health and well-being of people and planet.
